Sydney’s Northern Beaches is well known for Manly Beach and the home of “Summer Bay” at Palm Beach, but there is so much more to discover between these two internationally famous tourist destinations.

Manly to Palm Beach offers kilometres of beautiful beaches and idyllic views of Pittwater. You can enjoy a relaxing day taking a scenic drive up the peninsula coast, stopping off at the seaside villages on the way for a bite to eat or to explore the charming shops. Alternatively, if you are seeking a more adventurous experience, the Northern Beaches has an array of outdoor activities available including surfing, sailing, canoeing, fishing, kite surfing, cycling, roller blading, kayaking, windsurfing, parasailing, snorkelling and more……

Over two million people visit the native bushland of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park each year to enjoy its natural beauty of rivers, creeks and waterfalls and rich cultural heritage, including unique examples of Aboriginal rock art and its sandstone headlands.

Palm Beach Highlights

Palm Beach – Nestled between peaceful Pittwater and the rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean and home of “Summer Bay” lies the perfect holiday destination.

Barrenjoey Lighthouse marks the northernmost point of Sydney’s Northern Beaches and has kept watch here since 1881. The beautiful sandstone lighthouse has been restored and is open to the public on Sundays for guided tours. The 20 minute walk up a steep rock path is not for the faint hearted, but is well worth the trek with breathtaking 180 degree panoramic views once you reach the top.

Water Activities
– Hiring a small runabout or kayak for a couple of hours or for the day is a popular way to explore the secluded bays, beaches and inlets along the Pittwater’s shoreline. These can be hired at Barrenjoey Boating Services at Palm Beach, along with bait and fishing tackle if you’re keen to throw a line in.

Walking Track with panoramic views – A couple of hundred metres north of Palm Beach Wharf you will find a walking track that takes you up to breathtaking panoramic views of Palm Beach. There isn’t much sign posting and you may feel like you are lost…but keep walking as it is worth it when you get to the top. Keep in mind this is a difficult walk with lots of steps.

Take to the Skies – For magnificent views let Sydney by Seaplane take you on a breathtaking scenic flight along the spectacular coastline of the Northern Beaches. Sydney by Seaplane offers scenic flights, restaurant fly-and-dine packages, charters and return flights to and from Rose Bay.

Palm Beach Ferries (Fantasea) Experience an unforgettable ferry cruise on Pittwater and the
Hawkesbury River departing from Palm Beach
wharf daily.

Dining

Whether you are looking for a quick bite to eat or spending a lazy afternoon soaking up the magnificent views and relaxed atmosphere, Palm Beach has something for everyone.

Carmel’s by the Sea is the perfect place to pop in for a casual meal. Carmel’s offers delicious hamburgers, made the traditional Aussie way, and has a delightful selection of home-made muffins….. and if you’re lucky you may see a seaplane taking off or landing. Opposite the set of “Summer Bay” at North Palm Beach, nestled amongst the trees, is Dunes Restaurant & Kiosk, a delightful setting to enjoy fine modern Australian cuisine or a takeaway from the Kiosk. Located at South Palm Beach is the newly opened Sugar Palm Restaurant boasting a fine dining restaurant and a kiosk on the side for that essential ice cream or quick snack on a hot summer’s day.
